Finish Glazing Installation
Industrial Skylights offers multiple finish options.
Mill finish is raw unfinished aluminum. This finish is used commonly on commercial and industrial buildings where an industrial or modern look is desired or where the skylight frame cannot be seen from the ground or inside the building. This is the most economical option for frame finish, but is not recommended where corrosion is a major concern.
Powder coating is a type of dry coating, which is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. Because of the way powder coats are applied they are an extremely eco-friendly finish. Powder coatings emit nearly zero volatile organic compounds. These finishes provide more than sufficient protection most circumstances. Also, powder coat finishes are generally less expensive. We have 58 powder coat color choices in stock and thousands of possibilities in RAL colors, metallics or special finishes. Custom blended colors are also available.
Fluoropolymer (Kynar/Hylar) finishes are a Class 1 metal finish with a 30 year life expectancy. A fluoropolymer finish is recommended for all oceanfront applications where the skylight will be exposed to salt air. Class 1 finishes are commonly utilized for skylights on public and commercial buildings. These finishes are very durable and have excellent UV performance. Fluoropolymer finishes allow for limitless color possibilities.
